Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
property damage
I own a new townhome which I rent. I made a mistake on the lease and wrote the wrong apartment number. The tenant called the rental agent to let him know that the keys did not work. The agent advised him to call a locksmith which the tenant did and the locks were changed. The tenant started to move into the wrong apartment, which was also vacant. The tenant called me the next day to let me know what had occurred. Upon realizing the mistake, I asked tenant to leave the apartment he was in and go to the correct one. I left a note for the owner of the other apartment taped to the door. They called me a week later. The owner was irrate. She asked that I clean the apartment which I did. After I finished cleaning, she said that she wanted the carpets replaced. These are brand new rugs with no damage. She says she want new rugs and that these aren't new because my tenant was in her apartment. I offered to have them cleaned but she refused saying she'd take me to court instead. Please advice.

Re: property damage
I doubt a court would order replacement.
