Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I received a $169.00 ticket for running a stop sign on a bicycle. Since this sounds like the cost of a moving violation in a vehicle, I was wondering if this is a real ticket I have to pay or was the cop just giving me a hard time? If I do have to pay it, does this go against my driving record as if I were in a vehicle and not on a bicycle?

Actually, a moving violation is a moving violation whether you were on a bicycle or in a car. Yes, it will go against your driving record and your drivers license. It is a real ticket, you should pay it. If you are drunk and riding a bicycle, and get pulled over by the police, you could have a DUI on your record, regardless that it was a bicycle...it would have the same impact as if you were behind the wheel of a car.

If it is a ticket you will have to pay it or contest it. It will go against your record.

It is a moving violation because bicyclists have to obey the rules of the road too. Either pay the ticket or contest it.
