Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I recieved a judgment, in which I am in the middle of getting the money together. The attorney wants to charge me interest and the judgment was signed Sept. 29 2009. But I was not served a summons to go to court. It hasn't even been 45 Days after the judgment. Can he charge me this interest?

Yes. Interest is due at 8% from the date of its entry.

It is possible that the judge could award pre-judgment interest (from the time you actually owed the money before the lawsuit and before the judgment was rendered). It is also possible that the judge could award post-judgment interest (while you "get the money together"). I take it that you did not have an attorney represent you to defend the case? If you do have an attorney, please ask him or her.
