Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
Refusal of service based on attire
My mother bought my son a brand new car from a ford dealership here in town. She also purchased the service agreement for it. when my son went in to have his 3000 mile service(oil change etc.) One of the managers asked him to leave because he had his pants hanging down below his boxers as kids do these days. I do realize that business have the right to refuse service to anyone for whatever reason, however when we purchased the car he was there looking exactly the same and even test drove the car with the exact same manner of attire. they had no problem selling the car with him dressed this way, why can the now refuse to honor the service agreement because of it?

Re: Refusal of service based on attire
They are not refusing to honor the agreement to service the car. He can drop it off and come back later. They just don't want him hanging around the showroom with his underwear on display. It is bad for their business and makes other customers uncomfortable. When they get uncomfortable, they leave. Tell him to wear "normal" pants next time -- or at least pull up the ones that he does wear.
