Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Ripped Off For $5,000-

In Oct. of last year, I purchased some items online from an individual in Ohio for a little over $5,000. I currently live in Florida. I wired the money directly to their bank account and never received the items. After months of attempts to get the items, the individual promised to refund my money. In Dec. 06' he sent me one check for $500- and stopped responding to my emails and phone calls. I have contacted the local police dept. in his area but they believe this is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. Can someone please give me some information about what I can do to get my money back from this person?

Thank you for your time.

Tough spot because you are here and he is there. You should probably call teh US postal inspector and/or the FBI. They would have jurisdiction because of the interstate wiring.
