Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida
I signed a contract with LA fitness for personal training and was told I could put it on hold at any time. When I went to put it on hold because I can't afford it at the moment, they told me I couldn't and I had signed a 52 week contract. I see all kinds of stuff online about their shady tactics. What can I do?

Not much, really. I mean, you can ignore them and then try to defend yourself when they sue you; or you can figure out a way to pay the monthly amount as you agreed to do. (telling the judge about shady tactics you read on the internet is not a defense to the lawsuit). The contract terms are what's on the paper, not what comes out of the sales person's mouth. You might be able to work out a payment plan for something you can afford in order to avoid a lawsuit.
Your contract controls. If it does not allow for "hold" status you likely don't have that right. The oral conversations are not enforceable.
