Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Small Claims appeals

I am the plaintiff who won the case. The defendant says he will appeal the judgement. Are all appeals granted in small claims court. I represented myself, but now would like to know if I should get an attorney for the appeal. Are the odds in my favor.

Thank you for your time.

Appeal of judgment

The defendant has the right to file an appeal, but he will have to pay the filing fee ($250)and the cost of having the record prepared. Ifthere was no court reporter, the Defendant will haveto prepare and get approved a statement of the evidence. In short, it's rarely worth the time and trouble.Unless there is a blatant error, the chances of succeeding on appeal are slim. Appellatelaw is fairly specialized so you should probablyconsult an attorney.
