Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Out of State Car Repair Nightmare

picked up car in Florida after breaking down while on vacation. Repair shop said he guarenteed work. Transmission was to have been rebuilt. When picking up car, asked about the written warrenty, states it was in shop only, We are from Charlotte, N.C. Asked what did this mean, and was told transmission had to be in his shop. My husband said you will get the van. He said no just drop the transmsssion and ship it back to him. He gave us a psuedo repair slip, wrote 90 day warrenty in shop only We signed nothing. The van made it until 1 mile from home. started shimmering. Sunday saw a puddle of transmission fluid. We called the shop back and he gave my husband suggestions, ie, replace the rear seal, check the axle.My husband touched nothing. He took it to a transmission shop, told only 2 gears were working, transmission wires were hanging down, bracket was put in upside down. We called the shop, the owner refused to let the new shop work on it. Recieved $1150, refuses to pay for getting transmissin back to him. What are our options?
