Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Today I recieved a priority mail envelope with no return information on it. It contained a check in my name for $2200. The check was from a Buisness in Alaska. I have neverdone any buisness with this company nor have I had any kind of contact with them. I searched the envelope for a cover letter or anything that would tell me what this is about. All I found was a 2 inch strip of paper which read as follows. E-mail to [email protected] to verify the genuine copy of this envelope and its contents, and ensuring the correct recipient has properly recieved this package before attempting to cash. This is very important and your cooperation will be highly appreciated. Thank you Payment Secure. I've followed the instruction to E-mail this outfit. As of days end today I've gotten no reply. My question is if I cash this check, am I under any obligation to whoever sent it?

You dont get thousands in the mail without a catch. Stop working so hard to figure out if it is a scam or not. It is. Advise the FBI or postal service or shred it, dont cash it.
