Is it true that in the state of florida, creditors cannot garnish wages from someone that is the only source of income for the family and if so, what would be the step to take to stop the garnishment for now?

It is true that head of household is exempt from having wages garnished. You would need an attorney to evaluate the totality of the circumstances and file some court papers to stop this garnishment.
