Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

I would like to know... If someone could help me w/legal advice on how to prepare the steps to handle this scam that I have fallen into?

I went into a Lady Of America Location Homestead Fl. to ask @ a 3 day work out procedure, The associate had me sign a document, she said to release liability stating Im in good health and so on. I did get the flu and called to let them know I would NOT be there for a few weeks to find out that I had signed a contract that I never got a copy of!!! $778.00 a 3 yr. contrct! How can this be legal for this company to turn this over to Collection's which they have done so which is 3 years ago, Now it is just now going to collections and they are sueing me for $1018.00!!!

Please Help!

You need to be careful what you sign. If you signed a contract which says you will pay, then you are obligated to pay. Don't enter into agreements that you don't fully understand - EVER.

That said, there are ways to try to get out of it. I suggest you retain an attorney to review the specific contract in question, review your specific circumstance, and give you some guidance.

There is nothing I can tell you to do yourself. (or I would do so)

See an attorney who is familiar with Florida Statutes 501 that deals with heathl studios and clubs. Many times these clubs violate the law and you can get out of the contracts. Want to know the law? While they may have misled you, you must carefully read and review everything that you sign. You might need to ask an attorney to review the contract for you. If you do not have the contract, tell the debt collectors that you want a copy of it.
