Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

wrongly accused

I am the manager of a establishment that was broken in to

the detective interviewed only me,in the middle of the dinning room with many of my guests listening as I was threatend with prosecution and accused of this crime,my supervisors were told that I did this. days later the case was dropped. My question is should my supervisors have been told that I did this or was suspected of,also it doesnt seem that the interview should have been where others could hear,I feel that my integrity, trust and character have been permanetly violated and no longer want to go to this job. do I have any recourse with the police

Re: wrongly accused

You may have recourse against the police department and the city or county that oversees, manages or controls the police department in question. Our firm would not accept your case, but others might. Seek the advice of an attorney experienced in pursuing claims against police departments and local governments. Good luck.

Re: wrongly accused

If the police suspected you of the crime, then it would not have been wrong of the police to inform your supervisors that you were a suspect. In fairness, the police should also inform your supervisors that you were eliminated as a suspect. You do not state why the detective interviewed you in the middle of the dining room. It may have been poor judgment on his or her part to do so, but there appears to be no reason you could not have requested that the interview take place elsewhere or at another time. I do not believe you have any legal recourse against the police in this instance.
