independent study schools
independent study books cost 5500 collection agency obtained account wants me to pay half and send books back plus shipping. am i obligated to still pay if i send the books back?

You ordered the books and have had them. You are obligated to pay for them. sending the books back does not relieve you of that obligation.
Here, the seller is willing to accept only half of what is owed if you also return the books -- presumably so he can sell them as used books. Just returning them is not enough.
Of course, you can always pay for the books and keep them or sell them yourself.
