Informed consent

Who must inform the patient regarding the suggested course of treatment to obtain informed consent?

Anyone can. Most of the time it is the doctor performing the procedure, but it can be a physician's assistant or nurse. The anesthesiologist or their assistant usually does the informed consent as well. Usually, there is a paper to sign as well.
