Legal Question in Health Care Law in Florida
Medical assistants' last name
My wife is a medical assistant in a pediatric office. A patient is demanding a co-worker's last name. She had been taught that they do not, in fact, they should not, provide their last names to patients, however, now she is being told that they must give it if requested. She is not comfortable with that. Does the law allow/prohibit this or is it entirely up to the office? Should she be forced to provide this information?

Re: Medical assistants' last name
It is entirely up to the practice of the particular office. If they want to require their employees to provide their full names to patients, that is their right.
