Legal Question in Health Care Law in Florida
Payment for Medical Records
When I moved to Florida in 2004, I brought copies of my medical records from New Jersey to my new physician in Florida. I now need to request my former records along with my current records since I'll be seeing a different physician. Since they charge for copies per page, do I have to pay for the New Jersey records that I brought to them or are they my property?

Re: Payment for Medical Records
They will charge you for them.
Typically, though, if your new physician requests the records directly from your prior doctor, he will get them without charge. I would try that first. It usually works.
