Legal Question in Health Care Law in Florida

setting up a medical contribution fund for someone

I have been ill for awhile. I have medical needs that are not getting addressed, causing serious damage to my health. a friend suggested I set up a medical fund where people could donate to my cause. I now need over $ 25,000 and its growing. I do not have insurance, and what I do have, doesn't pick up what I have.

How hard is this to do, how much does it cost, and what is involved.

in tears,

need to know.

Thanks

Re: setting up a medical contribution fund for someone

I am not sure I know what you mean by "medical fund" but if you mean setting up a charity, you will have to file articles of incorporation with the State as a "non-profit corporation." Then you will want to find to which category of tax-exempt organization you belong according to the IRS. If you want contributions to be tax deductible to the donors, you will have to apply with the IRS for "501(c)(3)" status.
