canadian citizen
if my spouse were to die, would I as a canadian holding a green card, and have joint ownership of our home, be taxed ?

In general, the IRS taxes everyone that earns money or acquires taxable property within the US. You should consult a tax adviser/attorney to advise you on this matter because of its importance.
