citizenship

born in Germany in 1946 (war) to american parents, my citizenship or naturaalization papers were lost in a fire. have tired everything I can to get a copy but have had no luck. am wondering if I can get citizenship by marriage (35 years) to american citizen? can not get my SS without this paper. thanks diane

Yes of course you can, but you may also have other options. Immigration law is very fact specific and it is unwise to give suggestions or advice without knowing the important facts. We have one attorney licensed in the US and Mexico who does most of our non-litigation immigration work. She charges for a consultation but you'd have answers you can rely on from a licensed and insured attorney, and the consultation if free if we work on your case.

You might be able to recoup your citizenship papers based on your parents that were lost in the fire. Do you know where your parents registered you for citizenship? Do you have your parent's birth certificates? Marriage will only give you permanent residence not citizenship.
