Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

Complicated situation

I am a Mexican citizen who married a USC 18 months ago. At the time, it was a good faith marriage. Although we get along, I really do not think we will stay together. We have our final interview coming up soon but divorce proceedings would not start until after the interview. How would that affect my status?

Although I am a Mexican citizen, born and raised there, I am also the son of a Cuban national who never gave up her citizenship. My lawyer has said that that is another avenue to explore. Is he right?

Re: Complicated situation

Contact Cuban desk at US Dept of State at 202-647-9272 or write or call the Cuban Interests section at Swiss Embassy in Washington DC. They should be able to tell you if you could claim Cuban citizenship or nationality. If you can, you can adjust your status and obtain a green card under Cuban adjustment of status act.
