Re: green card
The question is not how long one must be married to obtain u.s. citizenship, the issue is how long has the individual had his lawful permanent residence. If you marry a U.S. citizen, your spouse must file an I-130 petition, and you must file an application for adjustment of status. When you are granted adjustment of status (green card), then if you remain married to the U.S. citizen, you may apply for citizenship after 2 years and 9 months. All other applicants for citizenship must wait 4 years and 9 months before applying for citizenship. Good luck.
