Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida
illegal immigration -employers asking legal workers to lie
I work for a small company that hired a bunch of illegal immigrants to work there. Now, there are suspicions that INS or ICE is after them and the sister in law of the owner asked one of my co-workers to lie...what do I do, this is not the first time something like this has happened and one of the illegals is harrassing us to get her and her boyfriend married so they can become legal citizens and have even offered up payment for it. Please advise me on what can be done about this?

Re: illegal immigration -employers asking legal workers to lie
What suspicions! If, in fact, this small company has hired illegals, and knows it (which obviously you have advised it does), there is no doubt that someone will eventually spill the beans (maybe one of those illegals), and ICE will be all over the place. I cannot tell your coworker what to do. If this is not the first time this has happened, I think you should think of your future. Second, tell the illegal who is harassing you that you cannot become a legal citizen by marrying a citizen if you entered the country illegally; you must first return to your country and consular process. So the best advice for the illegal aliens is get to a lawyer; the best advice for the company is what they are already thinking, without having to ask anyone to lie. Good luck!
