Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

immigrant and refugee rights

Dear Sirs, I need direction! My boyfriend has spent over 25 years of his 28years of life in the US. He was born in Jamaica, however, never knew his residency status here was an alien status. He was sent to prison in 2001 and recently notified that he will be deported back to Jamaica, a place that he dosent know and has no family. He served over 2 years in the US Navy, was educated in the US and has worked in the US for over 10 years. He was never advised nor asked by his counsel (atty) during his court trial rather or not he was in the United States legally. I am certain his military documents have him listed as a US citizen and he had no other reason to consider himself anything other than an American. Please advise of our rights, or direction or hopes of removing the request for deportation! Thanks!

Your boyfrined is in a difficult situation that cannot be helped without investing in an immigration attorney. The chances of reopening the criminal case depend ont he facts, which are studied from the file. I am not evading your question, I simply cannot comment without knowing more. There might be hope
