Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

K3 visa - Green Card question

Hi...

I'm married to my husband who is an US Citizent, right now I'm in the process of adjustment of status and everything is doing well. but I want to know: after the interview with the BCIS, if everything goes fine, you will ALWAYS received a ''Conditional'' Green Card???

I''ve been reading some books of immigration law, and some say that as a spouse of US citizent you first get the Conditional Green Card and then, prior to 2 years after received it, you can remove the ''condicional'' aspect. is that true??? you never recieve a Green Card without the conditional aspect?

thanks for the help

Re: K3 visa - Green Card question

A lawful permanent resident is given the privilege of living and working in the United States permanently. Your permanent residence status will be conditional if it is based on a marriage that was less than two years old on the day you were given permanent residence. You are given conditional resident status on the day you are lawfully admitted to the United States on an immigrant visa or receive adjustment of status. Your permanent resident status is conditional, because you must prove that you did not get married to evade the immigration laws of the United States.

The two years of conditional residence is a requirement for newly married couples. If you have been married for several years, the BCIS can waive this requirement and issue a permanent card.
