How long can INS hold a legal resident of the us without any charges

Well, not indefinitely, that\'s for sure. But, you\'d have to specify what the situation is exactly. Also, when you say \"legal resident\" you mean you have a green card? Or you are a citizen? Also, they may be investigating the facts and circumstances to see what charges can be brought. So, more facts are needed.
