Re: Naturalization

Dear Inquirer:

You must generally show that you have been a person of good moral character for 5 years prior to filing your application. If you currently OWE any unpaid taxes, this could bear on your current moral character. You may, however, not have been required to file your taxes in any given year, depending on your earnings and status. I recommend that you contact a CPA or tax consultant to clear up any issue with unpaid and owed taxes--perhaps by filing amended/later returns--prior to filing your N-400 application.

I recommend also that you email [email protected] or visit www.hanlonlawgroup.com if you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss this mater further.
