NSEER registration
pending I-485,
ins sends a letter to show proof of nseer registration.
never done nseer registration, and now i find out that i m supposed to go in 2003 for nseer registration.
what r the consequences if i will go now for frst time nseer registration? and should i take an attorney with me when i go to nseer registration.

Are you from a country that requires NSEERs registration? Did you enter the U.S. with a valid visa document? If you read the instructions on NSEERs on the uscis website, only individuals who are from countries listed on the NSEERs list are required to register. Secondly, if you did not register because you did not know about it, by all means, do it now. Yes, you should take an attorney with you. The computer will show you have a pending I-485, and you should be okay. Nevertheless, you should always take a lawyer with you to visit uscis or any other immigration-related agency. Unless you have committed numerous crimes, just tell the NSEERs office you did not know you had to register, if that is the fact. Good luck!
