Permanent Resident

I am a Permanent resident, actually I found out there is a job opening at the US embassy in my native country which I think I am qualified for it.

Can I apply for that job, being a permanent resident??? without risking losing my status of permanent resident.

The job announcement is for local and US citizens.

Can I apply or I can not???
