Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida
I am permanent resident. I got the green card for my husband, and soon I will apply for citizenship, I will send my application in one week. My mother lives with me in USA but her tourist visa expired in 2005, can I make a petition for her to keep her here?. I am a college student and she takes care my baby. My husband lives in New Jersey because of his job.

Hi,
Thank you for your inquiry. A permanent resident cannot sponsor a parent. When you are a U.S. citizen, you can sponsor a parent. As long as your parent entered the U.S. legally (even if legal status has subsequently expired), all sponsorship paperwork can be filed concurrently, thereby allowing your parent to adjust status in the U.S. The following link from our website is helpful: www.h1b1.com/sponsor.htm
