Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida
This is a problem that my girlfriend is having, She is currently in the middle of filling out her passport paper work and stopped at the section that she is suppose to put her mothers info. Her mom is not a legal citizen (my girlfriend's father is a U.S. Citizen and is currently married to the non citizen mom and were married in the states). She is worried that if she turns in the passport paperwork that the government will deport her mom. Do you think that this is possible? I'm trying to take her on a nice cruise for our anniversary, and this is holding us back. Please help this is making me very upset.

This could possibly place her mother into deportation proceedings (especially if the mother is not in a legal status). I think your wife should submit her passport application and also have the mother apply for her greencard through her husband. That would eliminate any issues. Even if she does get placed in deportation proceedings, she will be able to have the proceedings terminated if she is able to adjust her status.
