re-newing green card after divorce

My friend is here on a temp green card good for two years and is expiring next year.She is divorcing the American man she married and wants to remain in the US. What are the next steps for her to take. Thank you.

Your friend has apparently received "conditional" residence. This means that during a 90 day period BEFORE the 2Year Anniversary from the DATE the spouse RECEIVED her GREEN CARD, the couple will have to petition to remove the "condition." If a spouse is going to get divorced, she can do by herself once she is divorced AFTER the 2Year period and after the 90 day period. This will require extensive documentation. It would also be beneficial to have the divorce finalized soon.
