Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida
Rules
I have lived in the US for almost 10
years now; always been legal. My
husband and I married in 2006 and
I've had a ''conditional'' (not sure if
that's the right word) green card for
over two years now. I have less than
a year left before we have to go back
to our second interview and I will
receive my permanent
residency/green card. We were
thinking of going to Europe this
summer (I am a EU citizen) and
travel for a couple - three months, or
go to the UK for about 9-10 months
where I would go back to school and
do my PhD. Then we were planning
on coming back to the US, since this
is where our home is. My question is,
1) would I be allowed to travel/be
outside of the country for i.e. 3
months while vacationing? 2) would I
be allowed to be outside of the US
and study in Europe and then come
back and still receive my permanent
residency? 3) If not allowed either
one of the above, what's the longest
time I could be on vacation outside of
the US without any punishment to
my status? 4) Once I obtain my
permanent residency, can I then go
and study in the UK and then come
back as a resident?
Thank you for your help in advance.
