sponsorship/affidavit of support

If person looses his temporary green card and status does his sponsor after that is still responsible for his health/job situation? Or once person becomes illigal- all previouse agreements with the sponsor are off?

The I-864 Affidavit of Support is a contract between the obligor and the US Government for a period of 5 years or until the Beneficiary on the I-864 becomes a US Citizen.
