How to stay in the united states legally

my friend from israel has an expired visa by six months. she a worried to leave for fear of not being able to return, she is over 18. her father enjoys dual citizen citizenship in the united states and israel. does this fact help her at all. if not, does she have any other options besides marrying a legal citizen of the united states in order to stay here legally. thank you

A visa is one thing. SAn authorized stay is another. I assume your friends authorized stay has expired. If it expired more than six months ago what we call the "3year/10year" rule would apply to her. If she left after being here out of status for more than six months but less than one year she would not be able to get back into the US for 3 years. Over a year, 10 years. So, she has a real problem but she should copnsider leaving before her unauthorized stay exceeds a year to avoid the 10 year thing. Her father's citizenship might be relevant but the rules in that area are quite complex and you would need to see and be willing to pay an immigration lawyer to sit with you and dig out the important facts.
