Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

car accident/insurance

my son had an accident in clay county and we live in marion county. He was driving his uncle's truck when he got hit in the back by another car. He was told that he needed my car insurance in order for him to receive treatments here in marion county and yet, his uncle is insured and lives in clay county. Is this true and if so why. Does it jeopardize my insurance when he lives with me? Why should he have to use my insurance when it wasn't my car that he got into the accident with. Please explain.
