Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida
My holiday home in Florida had all its furniture stolen in February. My insurance company is still investigating my claim 8 months later. I have had an interview and given in my furniture package receipts for the stolen goods.
How long are they legally allowed to drag there feet before making a decision on my claim? They seem to be fobbing me off every time I ask for an update. Please can some one give me some advice on this situation.
Thank you
Alex

Read the policy. They have 30 or 60 days AFTER you file a formal sworn PROOF OF LOSS. The company will provide you with the blank form at your request.
Suit can be filed and you can get attorney fees awarded under FS 627.428. Also, interest runs from the date after filing the PROOF OF LOSS. You should consult with a lawyer that is experienced in handling insurance policy claims if you need help with the PROOF. Be prepared to pay a fee for this help and the court awarded fee with a contingency if suit is needed.
You are being toyed with.
Until you file the PROOF they are immune from suit so stop calling for "status" and take action to show you know what you're doing.
