my homeowners insurance was included on my mortgage payment and was cancelled because im trying
to work out a loan modification is that legal

depends. what was the reason for cancellation? It wasn't because you were trying to modify the laon. They would not even know that.

I think you need to speak with them and find out why it was canceled. I'm not sure that's the reason.
