Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

House Fire and Insurance Payments

My insurance company agreed to reimburse me for meals eaten out and meal expenses over and above my normal expenses (which is $150.00 per week). However, when I submitted my expenses they included meals out and some grocery bills for normal things that would be included in the $150.00. They refused to consider any bills from the grocery store. Isn't this double dipping by them or am I just not understanding

Re: House Fire and Insurance Payments

It depends on the details. If you usually buy a box of cereal a week, then the insurance company would not need to reimburse you for the box of cereal you buy at the store. If you buy the same things at the store before the fire as you did after the fire, then the fire has not caused a loss there.
