Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida
Insurance Fraud?
I work for a private facility in Veao Beach Florida that was badly damaged by the 2 hurricanes that hit here. The facility will be shut down for repairs until approx. April of 2005. The facility had an insurance policy that would pay for our saleries until the Center reopened. Now the owners (9 Physicians) of the facility want to lease us out to a local hospital to work 40 hours a week. Is this not insurance fraud if they are collecting money from an insurance company to pay our salaries? Am I in any jeopardy for working elsewhere while receiving this money? Is all this legal is really what I am asking. I do not knowingly want to be an accomplice. What rights do our employers have over us while they receive money from the insurance company and what are our responsibilities. They had us sign a statement that we would work for them again after the building was completed so we could receive our paychecks. Thanks for any help. Thank you.

Re: Insurance Fraud?
Ths is difficult to respond to without all of the details and a review of the ins. policy. The policy of ins. is between your employer and the ins. carrier. I would imagine that these issues are covered and this would not be fraud.
