Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

Insurance Payment Withdrawal

My daughter needed some injections in her neck for migraines. The Neurologist said he got approval from the insurance company and went ahead with the injections. The insurance co paid him for these injections. Several months later, my daughter needed these injections again. Again, it was approved, the injections given, and insurance paid. Several months later, she needed them again. It was approved, injections given, but this time, the insurance said that they made a mistake and should not have approved the injections. They took back the money they gave to the Neurologolist for the 2 previous injections. The Neurologist now says we owe him the money, because we signed a statement saying that we would be responsible for anything the insurance didn't cover. Am I responsible for these payments? We would not have had the injections had we known that it wasn't covered by insurance. Nor, did the doctor lead us to believe that the injections were not covered. The doctor has since turned the bill over to a collection agency. What should I do?

Re: Insurance Payment Withdrawal

Generally speaking, the paperwork you sign make you responsible for the payment if it is later denied by your carrier.
