Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

I was involved in a fender-bender accident in 2006 while living in Florida. The other driver was swerving all over the road. She swerved into my lane in front of me. I wanted to get away from her car. I turned to check the blind spot so I could sacely merge into the other lane when she slammed on her brakes. I hit her. She looked like she was on drugs or something and claimed there was a bee in her car. A policeman came but did not issue a ticket to either of us. Apparently he felt we were equally to blame. Now, 3 years later an insurance collection company is calling me saying I owe her $3000 for damages. There was only a small dent on her bumper that I could see. My car was more damaged than hers. This collection company says I need to show proof of insurance that I am responsible for paying if I cannot. Well, I cannot remember who my insurance company was at that time. I have searced and searced for it. I believe I must have paid cash and I have not kept recepts from that long ago.I have tried to find a copy of the police report but was told since no citations were issued there is no copy on file. I do not have the money to pay. I do not feel responsible to pay but I am worried this will go on my credit report. Help!

Try to find your carrier information. look in check book. Look everywhere. Check with your current company. If you have a claims made policy your current policy may cover the accident. report it to them. They have a database.
