Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

Life Insurance canceled after death

When my mother died recently, my sisters and I contacted her life insurance company to claim the $40,000 my mother had purchased through this company. We were shocked to find just a month prior to her death, the policy was canceled. Every month a certain amount was deducted from my mother's paycheck for her life insurance, and when she went on an FMLA, she did not have a paycheck. The reason my mother went on an FMLA because she was disabled due to her arthritic knees. The insurance company claims to have sent a bill and a cancelation notice, but my mother was not able to leave the house, even go to the mailbox at that time and there was no other way of communication because she did not have a phone line in her house. My sisters and I were counting on this life insurance money to pay for a probate attorney and to live on since one of my sisters is a minor. How can my sisters and I effectively dispute this?

Re: Life Insurance canceled after death

The method used for cancelation and the policy itself must be reviewed. Good luck.
