Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

London Insurance Policies

Do you know of any cases or where can I find case law on interpretation of insurance policies known as ''London Insurance Policies'' (ie, policies insured by Lloyd's of London) and are these policies governed by federal or state law or both? The particular policy in question insured a private aircraft purchased in the US and used in Latin America.

Re: London Insurance Policies

Too many years ago I was a defense atty and handled a number of cases reptesenting Underwriters at Lloyds. They did not issue "insurance policies" but wrote "cover notes". They would be governed by state insurance laws, not Federal but could be brought in Federal Court applying State law.The cover note itself should designate what countries or state laws apply and include a consent to service of process. I doubt you have the cover note from your question. Case law is easily available at the law library or by Wests, Lexis,

Lois, Versus or the internet.
