Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

material witness subpoena

I have been given a subpoena to testify as a material witness in a civil case. I was a private investigator on the case. I do not want to testify or give any information. What are my options?

Re: material witness subpoena

Your obligation is to appear as instructed in the subpoena. Failing to do so could put you in contempt. The court can have you forcibly taken to testify. Contact the people that hired you to make sure that they know you have been subpoenaed. If there is a legal privledge that would apply and preclude you from testifying, they will be able to raise that issue.
