Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida

Medicare

Medicare owes me nearly $260,000 since March of this year. I had a change of address and bank account, and I had updated my account with Medicare; however, it has taken Medicare since March to update my account. They recently updated my account, I believe last week, and now they are telling me to wait an additional 30 days to begin recieving any funds.

I have already undergone foreclosure for one of my properties and my standard of living has been completely injured. I have four children to feed and many bills to play, including my employees and office expenses. I am almost being forced out of business because Medicare's beauracracy!

I also attempted to contact Kerry Weems, the acting administrator for CMMS; however, he failed to reply and provide me with more indepth information as to why my payments are being delayed.

Many physicians are going through this ordeal and it truly isn't fair to endure undue stress. Something must be done. Some type of action must be available.

Please help.

Thank you.

Re: Medicare

When the government is involved, your options are very limited. If has -- on occassion -- take more than a year for medicare to resolve a lien in tort cases. You should have your paperwork reviewed by an attorney. It is possible that there is a contract claim that that would allow recovery of interest.
