Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida
Movers stole and damaged our things/what are my rights?
We rently hired movers in August 2009 to move our things from storage (same company moved us into storage) to our new residence. All the nuts/bolts/screws are kept together in a bag. I noticed the bag before the movers began the move. At the end of the move, they said they could not find this bag which containws any of the bolts, which are specially made to fit my bedroom set/table etc. We also noticed the glass light fixtures, a few other pieces to piece our furniture back together, along with a box that contained expensive knives, pots, and other sentimental gifts that were given to us were missing. We contact the owner of the moving company, and never received any returned calls. Once we got in contact with owner, they denied all claims. We were advised they were insured, but did not receive a contract. We have the receipt of payment that states they are insured, but only states what's not covered like mold/mildew etc.(none in which pertains to us). We contact the BBB to file a report, but not luck there. We have rentals insurance, but insurance started the day we moved in (same day movers moved us in). Our missing and damaged items total abt $4,000. Do we have a case?
