Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida
I now have reason to believe that my wife's father died (5 years ago) with a rather large life insurance policy which had been kept secret at least from my wife if not from some of her five siblings. How would it be possible to determine whether (or not) such a policy existed and what became of its proceeds?

Life insurance companies are very careful about disbursing proceeds to the proper beneficiaries. If your wife was a beneficiary under the policy, she would have been contacted. If she was not a beneficiary under the policy, she would have had no legal right to any of the benefit.
