Legal Question in Insurance Law in Florida
I received a check from the at fault insurance company and repaired my car. 2 months later I get a second check, smaller amount with no letter just a check from the at fault insurance company with my name on it. I waited a few weeks and then used it. Now a month later I get a call from the body shop saying the insurance company sent me the check by mistake under my name. Will I get in trouble now?

No, but you may owe $ to the bodyshop.
You don't indicate what the check was for. If it was for loss of use of your vehicle while it was being repaired, reimbursement for personal payment for a rental car or reimbursement of a deductible, then it would be yours. However, if it was intended to pay for repair to your vehicle at the body shop, then you owe the body shop the amount of the check. If you are not sure what the check was for, call the property damage insurance adjuster who sent you the check for clarification.
