Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Florida

I am going to hire someone to edit a book that I will publish independently. I want to pay this editor a flat fee and make sure that she can not ask for a cut of the profits when the book starts selling. I am wondering if I should have her sign an agreement and what type of agreement to use.

You do need to have the agreement in writing. We do not provide form agreements here.

You have to get an agreement with the Editor with minimum of five conditions including : A) That copyright in book vests with you.and B) Non -disclosure clause etc

This agreement should contain all clauses to protect your rights completely, so it is advisable to get an attorney do the agreement for you.

You should definitely have her sign an agreement. It would be best to have an attorney draft it for you. It's not very common, and you want to make sure it represents your interests and is enforceable. Contact me if you want legal help with this.
