Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Florida
I hired a freelance illustrator and sent him a Work For Hire agreement to sign. He did sign it but did not date it. Does it need to have a date next to the signature?

To be a work made for hire, there must be a written agreement between the parties specifying that the work is a work made for hire. The signature on the agreement will suffice, although you will want to document when the agreement was signed.

If the first paragraph says "this agreement is entered into on ___ date", that will suffice.
